Sub:-School Education – Jagananna Gorumudda (MDM) Scheme – Providing Mid
Day Meal to the students of Government DIETs – Certain instructions issued
– Regarding.
Ref:- 1) Representation of DIET students to the higher ofcials during visits to
DIETs.2) Note orders Dt-01-04-2021 of the Director of School Education, A.P in

As all are aware that, the Jagananna Gorumudda (Mid Day Meals)
Scheme is flagship programme of Government of Andhra Pradesh which
dovetailed with the Mid day Meal (MDM) scheme of GoI for providing hot
cooked mid-day meals on all school working days to all children studying
classes (I-X) in all Govt schools, Govt. Aided schools, Special Training
centres and Madrasas & Maqtabs supported under Samagra Shiksha
aiming at enhancing enrolment, retention, attendance and simultaneously
improving nutritional levels among children
Further, during the visit of senior officials to DIETs, the students of DIETs
have represented that, to provide Mid-Day meal to the students of DIETs as
majority of students are from BPL families. Further most of them are girl students
and the DIETs are generally located away from the main town and no
hotel/canteen facility is available nearby and as a result the students are found
to be attending classes without lunch. Hence taking into consideration the
requests of the DIET students, it is hereby decided to extend the Mid Day meal to
the students of DIETs duly mapping the respective DIET students to the nearby
Government/ZP High Schools. The details of nearby Government/ZP High School
(UIDSE Codes) are obtained to map the students of respective DIETs (Annexure
enclosed)
The District Educational Officers are requested to issue instructions to the
DIET Principals to co-ordinate with the concerned Assistant Directors (MDM) and
mapped Govt./ZP High Schools Head masters for monitoring and ensure the Mid
Day meal to be provided to the students of respective DIETs in the matter
In view of the above, the Director, Mid Day Meal & School Sanitation is
requested to take necessary action for providing Mid Day meal to the students of
DIETs in the nearby Government/ZP High Schools duly allocating the additional quantities of food ingredients (i.e., rice, vegetables, pulses, oil etc.) and engaging
of additional Cook-cum-Helpers (CCHs) and issue instructions to the concerned
Assistant Directors (MDM) accordingly to coordinate with the DIET Principals in
the matter.
Further, the Director, MDM is also requested to take necessary action in
the mobile application (IMMS) for addition of DIETs students in the nearby
Govt./ZP High Schools Headmasters logins.
The concerned DIET Principals are instructed to furnish the details of a)
Year Wise Roll, b) Attendance & 3) No.of students willing to take Mid Day meals
to the mapped Headmasters of Govt./ZP High Schools daily by 09.30 AM.
